Stuart was appointed as Senior Counsel on 22 November 2011 and on 16 April 2014 became a member of His Majesty’s counsel.

Stuart was appointed to the Order on Australia Day 2019 “for significant service to the legal profession, particularly in the area of industrial relations”.

Stuart was a member of the board of the National Portrait Gallery from 2018 to 2022.

Stuart is the Secretary of the Samuel Griffith Society, an organisation dedicated to upholding and defending the Commonwealth Constitution.

Stuart has been appointed as the Commissioner of the Queensland CFMEU Inquiry.
